Interresting, I never knew there was such an animal as a Dan Gurney Special Cougar, just the '69 Cyclones is all I knew of. HUH, I guess I still learn something every day. What were some of the specifics on these cars?------------------ KENT '65 Fairlane 500 wagon w/351W(soon to be 392), '78 Fairmont wagon w/392, '89 Mustang coupe in progress w/418, '88 california GT, 351 Pinto wagon, and a '68 Cyclone GT with 390 4V auto [This message has been edited by 89_coupe (edited 03-13-2001).]

i have my decal intact!kent: the DGS cougars were an option package that included special edition "turbine" wheel covers, a chrome package under the hood, and a nifty signature decal for the right rear quarter window. the decal, along with the dan gurney signature is also the 1967 motor trend car of the year award decal. mostly a local dealer option, the cougar club of america has a national registry to try and track the DGS packages, since they are not detectable via door tags. not only that, but some "purists" (aarrrgghhh) whine that the DGS shouldnt be counted seperately because it was "just" an option package.... well... historically, ford products have had many special option packages that have nothing to do with additional POWER or special graphics or or or or ....well, ya get the picture. so, i suppose you could say , in certain uptight circles, the DGS is even considered "controversial".... in my driveway, my DGS is my baby. kk

Thanks for the info kwazykat. I thought it would have consisted of more add ons but I guess not. Still more special than the average Cougar though and that's what counts ------------------ KENT '65 Fairlane 500 wagon w/351W(soon to be 392), '78 Fairmont wagon w/392, '89 Mustang coupe in progress w/418, '88 california GT, 351 Pinto wagon, and a '68 Cyclone GT with 390 4V auto
