97 GT.
It wants to work, but somethings wrong (stripped gear maybe?).
It works okay going back but not forward.
I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I go to the trouble of yanking the seat out.
Any others have this same problem on the SN95's?

You need a new (or a good used one from the junk yard) power seat track. They have a life span of about 7-8 years. They ARE NOT built to be able to install new motors on.

If you got more than that, consider yourself lucky. Just make sure, if you get one from the local used parts vendor, that the seat track isn't cracked.

Thanks Sub, i now know where to look.
I take it these tracks aren't available from Ford? (or they probably make you buy a whole new seat, lol)

I just checked with our parts dept. and that seat track is not available new anymore, so it looks like the salvage yard would be your ticket.

dealers in Sherman, Quitman, and Paris, Texas have them in stock. (but those are at least 6 hours from you)....I know I can get it next day, so your local dealer should be able to get it that quickly for you also

Wow, I don't know what got into my parts guy. He said it was no longer available. Guess I got tossed under the bus on that one!
