I am wanting to buy a Stage 3 two core intercooler pro charger for my stang, it is a stock 4.6L with cold air induction, flowmaster exhaust and 3:73 gears. Is there anything I need to do to the motor before installing the procharger? like beefing up the bottom end or is that for NOS?

If you want to run more than 8 PSI, then it would definitely be in your best interest to build up the bottom end. Forged internals, etc.------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

I have heard that the 4.6L GT block is worthy of about 375 hp. The Saleen S281SC adds the Saleen SC and intercooler kit (and other things) that takes the engine up to 365 hp. It's fairly common knowledge within the Saleen community that modding a stock S281SC much is risky. They do sell a pulley that will change the intake from 8psi to 12psi (and others), but the common rule of thumb is to go forged internals before putting on a pulley.Based on the above, I'd say you'd be right at the limit with an 8psi kit. Saleens also use 3.55 gears (not sure how much effect 3.73s would put on that, if any). Dave ------------------ M&M Member #33 '66 Coupe C code '93 GT 'vert (AOD to T5 swapped) '01 Saleen #648

thanks for the replies, i talked to pro charger they said there stage 3 2 core intercooler kit with bigger injectors and fuel pump would give me 429 Horsepower. Are they pulling my leg? What all do I need to get forged if I decide to?

No, probably not. That's a mean setup they're putting together. What did they say about beefing up the engine? What kind of compression ratio would that put you at? That's a very agressive setup. They sell forged kits at most high perf. locales. Off the top of my head I would guess it's in the ballpark of $700 for the kit (plus installation if you don't do it yourself). THe forged kits replace the pistons, rings, rods, bearings I think. There might be a few other parts too...I'm not sure. Probably someone else better to respond to that part.

they told me I know to build up the bottom end???? I am guessing I would have to pull the motor to put the forged stuff in right??? I am not sure what compression ratio I would be at, I can ask them. if I have to do all this, I think I am just going to do a 50 shot of nitrous (dry) and see how my car performs with that for now, I already have the tank and lines to the purge, I just need to hook it up to the engine.
