I've been eying some of these Mustangs around my neck of the woods. The prices seem to be getting somewhat reasonable on them since the new body style came out. Anyway, I have zero experience with the mod motors, except my work van, and I don't service it. Just wondering what kind of reliability you guys are getting out of these cars. Anyone with quite a few miles? Daily drivers? ETC. I stopped and looked at a 96 GT/5speed yesterday. Maroon w/black leather interior/Mach 460 stereo. It had a Boss decal on the hood (probably nothing special, huh?) It looked pretty good except a small door ding. 89K miles on it. Anyway, if I was to get one it would definitely have to be a v8/5speed. Just wondered what to expect as far as reliability.

Well, my 2002 has 71,000 miles on it and the engine and tranny have been top notch. No problems with either. Now if I could just talk the deer into leaving it alone! ------------------ Greg W. There's a guy over on another forum who has a '99 GT with over 100K on the clock. The engine lasted the whole time. But, he just had the bottom end built up for a serious application of boost. Before the build-up, the car was still running like it was on day 1. Never even replaced the clutch. There's another "local" guy who has a '00 GT, with about 120K, all stock, and has had no issues. He did a tranny swap (went to a 6-speed), but that was also on his own accord. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

Hey Frank? What's this "other forum"? I'd like to learn some more about the mod motors.

My buddy at the dealership says the only thing that goes bad on the 4.6 is the cam chain tensioners if you dont keep the oil changed regular

Drivetrains are great. Body fit/finish, particularly with the '05s is suspect in my opinion. The '05s are all going up for sale for a reason. I've had 3 buddies that bought them. 2 have already ditched them, and the other one is coming close. Only one of them had reliability issues (bad fuel pump), but the fabric and trim comes apart constantly.

My daily driver 97GT has 65K miles. No reliability issues. Hope I'm not jinxing it. have had issues several times with power window motors and stereo. I have a new aftermarket CD player now. Sometimes I wish it would just act up just once, so I have an excuse to go shopping for 05/06. J.
