What kind of oil usage should be expected on a stock engine? Mine has 63k on it, and used somehwere between a quart and a quart and a half in 2500 miles (that includes what was left in the filter). It does have a tiny leak at the rear drain plug, but it never seems to be more than a few drops underneath the car. Does that seem normal? This was with Valvoline 10W30. Thanks.

The Service Manager at a Ford dealership recently told me that I should expect to go through about a quart of oil every 800-900 miles with my 95.....

Yeah, I have heard that up to 1 quart per 1000 miles is acceptable. I find that hard to believe. I was just curious what other people were seeing. Thanks.

That kind of consumption is considered acceptable by many dealerships. Warranty work doesn't pay very well.
