I haven't done a lot of research on this model, but I think it's 385 hp?

Anyone have a good site that'll let you get the value of a car like this? KBB, doesn't do Saleens. 2001 Cobra in like condition in private sale says $18k. This guy is asking $19k.

I'd say that's a decent deal for that car...given they go for $42K+ new. Three years old, slightly less than average miles...

Ah, here we go. NADA actually has Saleens listed. Interesting. Is it a coupe or 'vert? Low retail on a S281 S/C coupe is $26K.

Don't know of anything in particular to look for on the car...a guy in the local Mustang club up here had a 2000 S/C...it had the stock GT hood on it, and he had a problem with the supercharger upper pulley actually rubbing into the underside of the hood. Saleen eventually hooked him up with their hood, and all was better.

Guess the only other thing to check is if it's a true Saleen...

He's meeting the guy tomorrow at 8am.

I went to the bank tonight and filled out the loan application. I should have a check in hand tomorrow. Bank looked up the value in NADA and said it listed for $28k. By the way, I had the mileage wrong....8952 miles

I called the guy tonight and offered him $19,750 ($750 above his asking price) to sweeten the pot. I figure that should put some pressure on the other potential buyer cuz that guy might think he's playing hard ball and walk. I hope. I want this car so bad I can taste it. Even at $19,750, I'm stealing it.

He's going to call me at 9:30 tomorrow morning and tell me whether it's mine or not, but he said, "I think this is going to be your car"!!!!!

I'm so psyched, I don't think I'll sleep a wink tonight.

It's actually a really dark blue. I'm not sure about the hood. I'm still new at all this Saleen stuff. It is one awesome car though. I have lots to learn, but I'll enjoy every minute of it! Sandy spent today in it. I asked her what she thought of it and she just said, "David, please! It's awesome.".

To be truthful on this story it was her that pushed me to up my offer on this car. I might have been to shortsited to think about doing that. She said I'd been looking at them and drooling on them for years at shows and this was my shot. It was a steal and I'd be a fool and kicking myself for years to come if I didn't fight for it. Does she know me or what?!?!

Finding a Saleen in Mint condition is one thing but to get it as a steal like that!!!

Anyway congrats on the Saleen. I am too looking at finding one.(99-04 yellow S281SC or S281-E would be better)

I have now a 94 GT And i was thinking about getting a 05 Saleen But if a 99-04 comes up i think i may say with the SN95 body it looks better in my thoughts (as a saleen)

And then look into a 05-06 Steeda Stage 2-3

Ps it alos was my wife that helped me find my Yellow 94GT and is pushing me to find a Saleen, and loves the looks of the 05 Steeda
