A week ago, my '99's center console will not latch closed anymore. How do I fix it and what's wrong? WD 40 didn't do a thing for me.Carole ------------------ 66 Coupe, Arcadian Blue with standard blue interior C-code "Miss Stang" alias "Miss Cranky" and honored to be the M&M Ford Product for June 2003 99 Coupe, Crystal White, palamino interior, with 35th anniversary badging and stripes, 3.8 liter, daily driver "Anni" MCA #45106 M&M #501 - got those 501 blues Member of the MCT Peanut Gallery https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/ctastang.html

Hard to say exactly what it is...when you try to shut it, does it resist closing?I've had this happen before. The little clip in the console part will flip down accidentally, and then the hook on the lid won't be able to catch it. For me, just sticking a pen down underneath the catch clip in the console and flipping it back up worked. Other than that, I may need a better description of what's going on. My '03 doesn't have that problem fortunately. They revised the design of that part of the console. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

Frank, the lid won't close and the latch doesn't want to move. We'll try a screwdriver or something that if the "tool" breaks, it won't fling ink all over the car Carole ------------------ 66 Coupe, Arcadian Blue with standard blue interior C-code "Miss Stang" alias "Miss Cranky" and honored to be the M&M Ford Product for June 2003 99 Coupe, Crystal White, palamino interior, with 35th anniversary badging and stripes, 3.8 liter, daily driver "Anni" MCA #45106 M&M #501 - got those 501 blues Member of the MCT Peanut Gallery https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/ctastang.html

Wow...that does sound like a doozy. I know it was kinda tough to get it to flip up, but I don't think it was ever that bad. Yeah, I'd opt for a flathead screwdriver at this point. I only used a pen because I always carried one in the console at the time, so it was handy. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

The screwdriver worked. Thanks for the info, Frank. I keep a pen in the console also, but I didn't want to risk an ink attack on my Anni.Carole ------------------ 66 Coupe, Arcadian Blue with standard blue interior C-code "Miss Stang" alias "Miss Cranky" and honored to be the M&M Ford Product for June 2003 99 Coupe, Crystal White, palamino interior, with 35th anniversary badging and stripes, 3.8 liter, daily driver "Anni" MCA #45106 M&M #501 - got those 501 blues Member of the MCT Peanut Gallery https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/ctastang.html

You're welcome, Carole. Glad it helped. May wanna drop an allen wrench or something else small and solid into the console too, for the next time it happens. Heh. I've hit that little catch hook several times with the lid open...I'll be shuffling CDs or writing something down or something else...and my elbow will hit that clip and send it into the closed position.
