I am putting the 03 Mach in storage for 7 months while I'm in Japan.I plan on changing the oil before it goes in, giving it a bath, and storing it in a self storage on jack stands and a car cover on it. I've done the trick before of cracking the windows and putting a cookie sheet of baking soda on the floor to fight mildew. Anyone had luck with keeping a battery good in storage without one of those battery tenders? I figure if I disconnect it, it will keep the clock from running it down. (The battery in my 68 was only about a year old, and after a year of not being driven it was too dead to even charge.) Anything I'm not thinking of?

It's only 7 months, I think you'll be okay with whatever preventative maint. you do. I just purchased my 03 Mach this past May after it had been on the lot since Feb 2003. Of course, I'm sure it wasn't sitting there the entire time as it had 163 miles on it, but I'm sure it did sit quite a bit. When I was in the Navy, I stored my cars for up to 4 months at a time (before getting married) and did nothing but fill up the gas and change the oil, and left the battery disconnected. Never experienced a problem, and that was a carburated '84 GT. Enjoy Japan. Sucks getting deployed, but at least you're going somewhere interesting!------------------ Sub Stanger/Oxford White 2003 Mach 1...and a guy who LOVES his wife and kids!
