Gday

Picked up a 98 stang yesterday, only a little v6 in it but the body is nice and straight and low miles which is what I was aiming for. Now that I have my toy I fully intend on playing with it. Checking around it doesnt seem like I can fit a Falcon GT motor in there (I know, Im biased, but I looovveeed my GT back home. Hurrah for AUS Muscle!!)

It seems the best way to go is the 4.6 Cobra motor of the same year. Any thoughts? Anyone ever had experience with fitting Falcon blocks into Mustang bays? If not, is the replacement of a v6 with a v8 much of a problem in the Mustangs? A lot of the falcons of yesteryear you could change the fly wheel, bolt on the new motor and would be tearing ass around the countryside that same afternoon.

No doubt its not that easy anymore, but would be interested in hearing anyone's experience with interchanging blocks of different size.

Thanks!

First off Welcome to M&M

Despite the small displacement of the 4.6, the motor is actually quite big, in fact, it is very close to in size to a 385 series big block ford. And since the engine bay of a v6 is the same size of a v8 one you wouldn't have a problem fittng it, whatever it be, but getting it actually in and hooked up would be. What motor are you even thinking about swapping? A falcon block, what do you mean by this? Are you talking about the real old 60s faclcons?... Sorry I'm real confused. Could you give some more specific info as to what you want to do?...

Falcon is Austrlia's equivalent to the Mustang. Was thinking a 5.0 L 2000 Falcon GT Motor. (May have been 4.9L, forget tbh)

If you are interested in seeing the new falcons and the similarities/differences to the Mustang check out www.ford.com.au

There is so much involved in swapping a V6 to a V8, the only smart way would be to trade your Mustang for a GT, really.

wow! I never knew. That is kind of cool actually how they have different cars there. And they use the old names like Fairlaine and Falcon, learn something new every day. I was really confused for a second

There are no Falcon GT produced in the States. If you are speaking about the 351 Cleveland motor, I don't know. Nobody is doing that here because they are 30 years out of production. However, I did see an article about swapping in a 351 Windsor. A stroked Windsor is the hot ticket in the States. If you are interested drop me a line and I will look for it.

Yah, I know the falcons havent been produced in a long time here in the states. Was thinking more of importing a 2001 - 2004 5.4L Flacon motor to fit into a 2000 Mustang. Still exploring the options, I ended up opting for the 2000 Mustang over the 98, had a few small things go wrong with it and the dealer left a bad taste in my mouth. Went private and got a sweet 2000 V6 to play with
