My son just purchased a 1995 mustang. The previous owner had had a new transmission put in it and it had a warranty. Two days after he had it (he picked it up the day it came out of the transmission shop), it started making noises. He took it back to the transmission shop and they said that the yoke was bad and it wasn't covered under the warranty. My question is: Could they have damaged the yoke when they switched out transmissions? The shop said that there wasn't anything wrong with the yoke when they put everything back together. Sounds a little fishy to me. My son is 16 and this is his first car. This whole deal (not to mention the run around about what shop was going to fix it) has really given me the red ass. I'm turning them into the better business bureau and I need to have all my ducks in a row. So, any input or advice you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Sounds fishy to me as well. I'm not even sure how the yoke could get damaged. I'd try to get a second opinion from another shop.

It's possible that they could have changed the output shaft bushing and installed an incorrect or damaged bushing, or the replacement transmission had a bad output shaft bushing. I'm not saying they did, but that's a possibility. One thing to ask them is if the yoke really is bad, why didn't they see it when they installed the transmision? It was in their hands at some point. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150

That was one of my questions. Why didn't they find this a few days before, when they were installing the transmission? The whole thing stinks. Anyway, he's out $300 unless the Better Business Bureau can do something about it.

He most likely is out the money, because something like that is very hard to prove.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150
