I was late hearing about these to begin with, and was considering selling my 69' last spring to make (capital) room for a new 03' Mach 1. I went to my local dealership last March to inquire, possibly order one, and was told they couldn't get any, as they were all already sold. I tried about a week later, at a different dealership, and was given the same song, and also told that because no one in the area was an SVT dealer, none would be arriving locally to any dealerships either. Now, while driving by the local dealer this morning I see two of the new Mach's parked out front - 1 silver, and 1 blue. I pulled in there, and they were really trying hard to sell me. They were both stickered at $29,xxx, and the salesman said I could take an additional $4,000 off the sticker for a rebate of some sort. I was surprised to see them for sure, but I did buy a new Harley this summer, so no new Mustang is now in the plans. But, what's the deal? Did alot of people back out on orders when they announced the Boss plan, or since the Mach is coming back for 2004, are people being more patient, or with the new designed Mustang coming out in 2005, is that making some folks wait? The salesman was really trying to get me in it and wanted to talk numbers. BTW, I ran from there (very quickly) even after they offered a test drive - you know I would have come home with one of them, gotten divorced, had no garage to keep it in................

I bet they'd take your Harley on trade especially if they were offering you 4G off the sticker. The dealer I got mine from has had two and I was lucky I found mine.

They're still there. Kind of reluctant to buy any new car right now. Bought our 2001 Escape right after the 0% interest came out, and actually even got more for our trade-in than we owed. Now, after checking into used car prices, we are already $3,000-$4,000 upside down on the Escape - and I thought it was a good deal at the time having bought it on the X-plan, some cash down, the 0% interest, and also the good trade-in allowance we got 2 years ago...............

Used car prices are going through the floor. Nobody wants to trade their used car in cuz we're all upside down. Great deals on new ones, but if you're trading in, it doesn't help much. I was in NJ yesterday and saw a dealer up there had 3 Mach 1's. Red, yellow, and black. I would guess that with the Mustang changing designs next year, Mustangs are moving slowly anyway. There's a used, low mile, '02 GT down the road going for $17.3k. Aren't they like $24k new?!?! If this keeps up, I'll be getting a used '05 in '06!!!

Maybe, maybe not. I'd like to see the final production numbers for the '03s when they're finished with them. Then compare them to the '04s. Looking at past "pre-redesign" production numbers, it looks like 2 years prior to the redesign, #s are low. Then the year before the redesign, numbers are a good bit higher. I guess people wanna buy that "last year of the current design" before the new one comes out. Back in '92, I see there were only about 73K Mustangs produced (slightly down from 93K in '91). Then in '93, the number jumped to 113K. Same situation from '97 to '98...lower production in '97, significant spike in '98. quote: There's a used, low mile, '02 GT down the road going for $17.3k. No doubt. Unless they can't keep the new ones on lots. New GTs MSRP at about high 23K (for a stripped Deluxe) to almost 30K (loaded Premium 'vert). I got my well-optioned Premium for $23K...sticker was $25,970. Invoice was a little over $24K. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

Both are still there, and it's been about a month since they arrived. Wonder why they haven't been shipped to another dealer by now (or already sold). The blue one seems to be the one that goes on all the test drives (and I bet those have been some hard, quick trips). I have to take the wife's 2001 Escape in today to see why the battery light is coming on. Give me the strength to ward off salesmen........

It also looks like Mach 1s are just now starting to sell. Over on another board, there has been a surge in those members buying new Mach 1s in the past couple weeks.I guess the year-end rebates and clearances are helping this out too. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

Florida users on Fordpower.net are posting that dealers down there have Mach 1s for under the $23K mark!!!! If that's true...man...oh well. That's always the case though...after you buy something, it goes on sale. I'm still quite happy with my GT. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

With a $3000 rebate and the '04's knocking on the front door, the dealerships will do just about anything to sell them now. The one I ordered last September is STILL sitting on the lot. If I hadn't separated from my wife (again), I'd be driving that beauty right now. Car payment versus place to live.......I guess I need to pay the rent for now.------------------ Sub Stanger/1990 LX 5.0 convertible (AOD to T5 conversion....completed)& the meat in the famous "SUB SAMMICH"! Ron, I guess I will always like the 65 coupe the best so I plan to keep the username. Since my nueropathy keeps me from racing and working on cars, I decided to get a good fast car with modern creature comforts. And one my wife could drive (we trade off each week). If they ever find a cure for my condition, I will be back looking for a 65 coupe to race. Just hope it's soon.

I am late adding on here, but after I bought mine at the end of May, the only Machs I saw on the lot of at least 3 dealers were all automatics. No offense to anybody who has one, but I think most people probably prefer the 5 spd in a car like this.

Just an update, both of the local Mach 1's did end up selling (locally), but were on the lot for nearly 3 months. I looked at a new 04' GT yesterday, saw that the sticker was $26,200, and the salesman offered that it also had a $3,000 rebate on it ($23,200). The Mach 1's at same dealership were stickered at $29,xxx, but I was told I could have one with the rebates at the time for $25,xxx. I actually ran into the guy yesterday who had purchased the Azure blue Mach 1 that was at this dealership earlier last fall, and he told me with the rebate and his "D" plan pricing, he only paid $22,000 for his Mach 1 (it's a 5 speed by the way). Man, still losing sleep over that deal - 1 of 5,000 made, and over $7,000 under MSRP...........................

Actually Skip, his Mach was 1 of about 9500 Machs made in 2003, unless you were talking about the color combination for which I don't know what the production breakdown is of Azure blue Machs versus the other colors. Alot of Mach owners are upset that Ford produced about 3000 more Machs and continued production through the 2004 model year. Give it some time, you'll start seeing them popping up all over the place for less than $20k. That's what I'm waiting for. I don't care about the so-called "limited production" that wasn't, I just want to grab one when the prices are right. Right now, 2003's Machs are just "used" Mustangs with a fancy hood and motor. ------------------ Sub Stanger/1990 LX 5.0 convertible (AOD to T5 conversion....completed)& the meat in the famous "SUB SAMMICH"!
