I am currently swapping a 4.6 l sohc motor into a v6 1996 mustang. I am currently having problems with the brake booster being to large. What would be the cheapest or most effeicent route. How much am i looking at spending. any other info on the swap would be helpful. And also how much stuff is needed or different to swap to a gt brake setup. Thanks Jonathon

The 4.6L used hyro-boost instead of a vacuum booster. The easiest and cheapest method would be to find a complete unit off a donor vehicle.

There are no rookie or dumb questions. If it is something you need or want to know, this is where you come to find out, right? The easiest thing to do is find a 4.6L MUSTANG in a donor yard to be able to pull all that you need off of it. The booster asm. is very expensive from FORD. It will consist mainly of the booster/master cylinder cyl. asm and plumbing between it and the P/S pump (CIII). Don't forget the cooler and a filter should be installed on the return side. There was also a hydro-boost system used on 5.0/5.8L applications using the CII P/S pump. The nice thing about hyro-boost is the ease of use with a high lift long duration cam. But the most important thing to remember is the use of an adequate cooler. You can ask your FORD parts operson to burn you an illustration of the booster assembly and the pump installation to get an idea of how it is installed.
