What does the modular mean in the 4.6 modular engine. Is this just a name or does it have some significance? I know its probably a dumb question but this has been bugging me. thanksPaul ------------------ 1970 Grande H code 351W FMX

I read elsewhere that it means the parts are interchangeable within the same line of engines. So parts from a Crown Vic's 4.6, say, are swappable onto a Mustang's.Maybe there's more to it than that, and someone else can elaborate. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

ICBW, but my understanding is that the cylinders are a module, as is the lower block, not all one piece like an older motor. Presumably now you could have your motor rebuilt to original specs (not bored out). $0.02
