For those of you who have been following my adventures with clutch replacement on my 1996 GT, I DID manage to remove that stubborn driveshaft and I am well on my way to getting the transmission off...but I have hit yet ANOTHER problem.

I wanted to remove my dual exhausts from my engine so that my transmission will have room to drop, but the bolts holding my exhausts onto my exhaust manifolds have RUSTED onto their studs...it looks like the bolt and the stud have "become one" with each other...SO...I decided to attack the problem from the OTHER end of the car, and here is where my first question arises:
QUESTION #1: I have removed all the bolts holding the rear of my exhaust pipes. The pipes are now drooping down in the back. Can I expect to be able to remove my transmission by sliding it downwards and backwards OVER the drooping exhaust pipes, or am I not going to be able to remove the transmission unless I take the FRONT of the exhaust pipes off of the engine itself? It really doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to get those exhaust manifold bolts off intact.

QUESTION #2: There are five (5) bolts holding my transmission onto my engine--two on the passenger side, and three on the driver's side. How the heck can I reach that top bolt on the driver's side? Even if I could get the front of the exhaust pipes off of the car, I don't see how I'm gonna be able to yank that bolt with any amount of leverage because it is in such a *tight* space!

Please help me once again, and THANK YOU to all who have helped me so far!

No, go back to the studs. Hit them with Liquid Wrench and let them soak a while. Then heat them up with a torch, use a tight fitting six point socket and they should back off.
