We recently purchased a 2002 GT with an automatic. I attempted to spin the tires on it and all I got was a measly chirp. I would think that the 4.6L V8 would be able to spin the wheels. And no, the traction control was not on. Anyone have any ideas?

i agree! my 5.0 spins them easy, even wit 2.73 gears, but they don't make much noise....or maybe i just can't hear them over the exhaust( 4 cats, no muffs)

I think because you lack ci with the 281 you may need to swap gears in order to put these engines into their power band. I believe they make the most power at a higher part of the rpm band.------------------ joe 2001 SVT Cobra 68 GT Fastback 98 F-150 90 Escort GT SOLD!!! Damn I'm gonna miss that tire smoking terror!

I test drove a 2000 GT convertible and it would spin the wheels at will, even with the traction control on. The traction controls allows slippage as long as the car is moving straight forward. 2002 makes more power than a 2000 because of the higher compression, so something is up?

Yep, stand on the brake AND the gas. You should spin without much problem. You've got to get into the powerband and keep it there. Smoke em if ya got em... Mike
