Since I owned that car...I always felt it was saying a lot faster than I was going...
especially at high speeds...
Yesterday had my son in law cruise at 60 MPH in a VW Passat....at 60 I was losing him...at 66 I was in pace...
Today I saw one of those Police "You are travelling at --- MPH" they put up on the road, that tells you your speed...
I went thru it at 60 flat on the speedo...the sign said 53 mph..my hi school math tells me that's over 13% (off)..
OEM gears, wheels and tires....no chips or add ons other that muffs and Steeda Lowering (sport) springs....
I must admit that on a clear PaTurnpike i was in triple digits in the teens and I know i was doing 90 mph TOPS !!!
Questions: it's going back to dealer (Obviously) and I think I have an argument to readjust the mileage on my warranty..as I just turned 9 grand and real quick,,,even at 15% it would be more like 7700 miles...
Also...anybody ever hear of this before on an oem car...and do you think I have a good case for turning back the mileage (at least on paper)??

Eddie, when I bought my '94 F-150, I was told they would recalibrate my speedo up to 6 times due to tire changes.

STEVE...tell PAM, I laughed out loud...you two ought to be comedy writers....
I didn't change a damn thing that would affect the speedo...
Just Muffs, springs and air filter....
How about the warranty issue.....

Sounds like a good reason to get it fixed at dealer cost, but do you have access to someting like AAA does where they give you a diagnostic of your car they also do speed calibration. This way you take your car to the dealer with proof in your hands.

Then it's definitely a warranty problem. For some reason I thought you threw on a set of rubberband tires.

Joe...we have a AAA diag. center but for non members it's about $60....
Yeah Steve...the whole thing is OEM...I'm figuring with my Odometer around 9K...I'm really only at around 7500...
And I think it's at least 15%....
Which means my mileage warranty should be extended to around 38 K instead of 36 K...
No rush...the longer the better...and looking at the little dial hitting 118 looks cool, even though I'm only doing around 91 mph...
