Well, I am going to follow in Wythors' footsteps, and tell you all about my '03 Mach 1 experience..2 weeks ago we went to the Living Legends Road Tour, and saw the brand new Mach 1. Oh yeah, the GT40 concept was there as well..
I almost cried when I first saw her... Torch red, gleaming under the midday sun. Shaker FUNCTIONAL Hood Scoop extending through the top of the hood. It was like a dream come true. Opening the hood revealed the 32-valve powerhouse and its magnificant beauty in all its glory! It was a whole new experience, yet so very familiar...
A walk around to the side revealed the tasteful decals and the attention to detail: including the chrome door latches. To sit in this modern-day marvel was like nothing else. The seats, though new and not yet broken in, were as comfortable as they were aesthetically pleasing. Not hard to get in and out of, and yet you could tell they would hold you in place around those high-speed curves. The pleated style along with the quasi-perforated look, gave the seats both front and back a very unique look.
The speedometer and neighboring dials had retro-looking tall & skinny numbering, reminiscent of the original Mustangs. A Bullitt-style shift knob topped the uncomfortable stock shifter. And the finishing touch was a Mach 1000 Sound System w/6-CD in-dash player.
True to the original Mach 1s, the black-painted spoiler was an excelent touch. It's the same style as the '01 & '02, but the contrasting color scheme gives the car a whole new look.
The rolled exhaust tips, in my opinion, were also a very nice touch. And to hear the car revving from behind, in even its stock form, was like a beatiful harmony of perfectly matched & balanced components.
From the front end, the new chin spoiler, raised hood, and portruding scoop gave the beast a whole new look altogether. I especially enjoyed watching the scoop shake back-n-forth when revving the motor - to me, that was the ultimate finishing touch!
The ride height was just right - at 1.5 inches lower than a stock GT, there's no need for modifications, due to its revised suspension.
The 13 inch rotors were a sight to see as well - I'm so glad they included this feature. And even the new Magnum wheels looked great on this car! I personally couldn't stand the way they looked at first, but when I finally saw them in person it was a totally different scenario...
Overall, I rate this car a perfect 10!! The looks were absolutely incredible, the feel and the sound of it was awe-inspiring, and to finally have a real-live working hood scoop is a major plus in my book! Ford has really done an incredible job, and I honestly feel that this car is definitely worth every penny!! I've modded my '00 GT quite a bit, but there are only 2 things that I can think of that I would want to do to this one: Steeda Tri-Ax and K&N Filter. That's it. A car like this, you don't really need anything else!!
