I've been thinking of getting a 2000-2001 Mustang V6 to commute in. It's time to put the '70 into storage and get ready for it's resto. I'd prefer a GT, but being 21 insurance would be sky high. What kind of power can be gotten from a V6? I want to keep it basic, no superchargers or anything. Are there any companies making a dual exhaust system for them, or any other kind of performance stuff? Thanks to all that can help. ------------------ 1970 Mustang Deluxe SportsRoof (my daily driver), 1946 Ford pickup, another 1946 Ford pickup, 1947 Ford parts truck, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic [This message has been edited by 70SportsRoof (edited 05-17-2002).]

Anni has great get-up-and-go She's quiet and smooth and if I don't keep an eye on the spedometer, she'll be doing 70 without me realizing it! Keep in mind though that I drove a 4 cylinder before her. Go take one out for a test-drive and form your own conclusions.Carole ------------------ 66 Coupe, Arcadian Blue with standard blue interior C-code "Miss Stang" alias "Miss Cranky" 99 Coupe, Crystal White, palamino interior, with 35th anniversary badging and stripes, 3.8 liter, new daily driver "Anni" MCA #45106 M&M #501 - got those 501 blues Vice-president Mustang Club of Tidewater https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/ctastang.html

Heck yes. Anything you can do to a V8, you can pretty much do to a V6. Just gotta look around, and probably pay a little more for the stuff.Dual exhaust is probably one of the easiest mods. You can have a shop hook you up...the average price for that is $350-$400. Cold Air Induction is also another power booster. If you get the MAC CAI, that runs about $200. That, and the dual exhaust should give you a good 10 hp boost. Then you could get a new throttle body, gears, shift kit or short throw shifter, etc. Check out some of the info on http://www.v6power.net to give you a better idea. You're starting off with a pretty good year there...those 190 hp engines are an excellent basis to start from. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

I'm plenty content with my 2000 V6 Vert. With the V6 you'll want a 5-speed as it makes the drive alot more fun. Also look for one with the 16" tire and wheel option. You can check out a site, www.fiveomotorsport.com, for that dual exhaust - they seem to take a good number off of GT's and then sell them for a reasonable price. I'd endorse the other replies too - I'm keeping mine stock except for the K&N I put in, but it seems like anything you can do to the V8 can also be done to a V6, for the right price that is....------------------ Joe C. 2000 V6 Convertible

Pacesetter makes a single to dual exhaust adapter. You can put any V8 dual exhaust on it. I know there are tons of stock V8 cat-backs out there for cheap that would sound great on a V6. I doubt there are many V8s that still have the stock cat-back on them.[This message has been edited by pthornton (edited 05-17-2002).]

You might try looking at a Roush Stage 1 with a V6. Not sure how many used ones are around, but you can easily find a new 02. The nice thing is that everything carrys a full warranty plus you can get all the same incentives like rebates or low APR's. You can get Auto or 5spd in any color Ford builds. The side pipes sound pretty good. Has all the look of the V8 Stage 1 without the insurance premiums.

Jasons V6 can run even thur 1st and 2nd with my buddies 94 Cobra with a real engine in it..LOL..5.0L but when that Cobra gets rolling, she gooooone!V6 is under-rated,good little engine add dual exh she'll run better. triva. How many V6's did the SVT group prep in '95 only not to use them but instead they went to the assembly line? [This message has been edited by mustangs68 (edited 06-21-2002).]
