Hello, all. Some advice, please.

I can finally justify getting new tires (40,000 mi), and I am sick to death of the hard rubber (read, no traction) ones that came with the car.

Now, I must admit I like 'crabbing' down the highway at 60 mph or more under controlled oversteer - I have never had a more controllable car - but I've BTDT now. So, just for grits & shins, I'd like to see what traction is like.

I need softer rubber. Not so soft that gravel will embed into the rubber but definitely softer & stickier than what I have now.

They should be rated at, oh I dunno, 150 mph + just in case

Looking at getting the most rubber on the road, so a squarish cross-section (as opposed to having that 'sidewall bulge') seems like a good idea, if possible.

Any advice aimed at a complete idiot would help a bunch.

TIA,
Jon

If you really want good grip and don't care if they wear fast, check out the Goodyears.

Check out the selections at:

I've heard really good things from the owners of Firehawk SZ-50's. Great dry and wet. So they tell me...

Happy hunting

I've run Comp T/A's(stock tires), Yokohama A520's, and Kuhmo Ecsta's on my 97 Cobra 'vert. I have never liked T/A's. Yokohama A520's grip like glue in the dry, kinda squirmy in the rain. Tread life sucks. I gave up some traction with the Kuhmo's, but they are cheaper and so far lasting longer than the Yokohama's.
I've talked to several guys running Bridgestone's(RE71's, I think) that really like them. A few guys have big, fat Nitto's on the back, but they're more straight-line cars.
