I recently purchased a 95 GT. I have been looking into the mass air and cold induction systems a bit. I'm not sure which is a good combination and what side effects to look for. I'm from the old days of carbs and the new technology is a bit new for me. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Your car has as Mass Air Flow (MAF) fuel injection system on it as it's method of carburation already. The air flow meter is located in the air filter housing on your car. A cold air induction system is a setup that replaces the factory ductwork to allow you to scavenge the cooler air from inside the fender well or under the front bumper. I have a Summit Racing cold air kit on my 93 and love it. I would highly recommend one as a good "bang for the buck".Dave

Thanks for the info. The guy that had the car before me put a K&N filter in with the original duct work, minus the noise silencer. The air sensor is original and I'm wondering if it would be worth installing a larger one.

Your money would be better spent in a few other areas before you upgrade the air flow meter: exhaust, headers, throttle body and even heads and cam. This is my humble opinion and I'm sure others will disagree, but I think the air flow meter is way down the list of things to do.

GTX, be carefull when you clean the K&N that you don't over oil it. The oil can clog the MAF and cause your car to get a "check engine" signal. This happened to me on my truck and I never knew that it was possible.------------------ joe 2001 SVT Cobra 68 GT Fastback 98 F-150 90 Escort GT (smokes the tires in all 5 gears, or just smokes through all gears)

GTX,wythors is correct. you do already have a MAF. Changing it for a higher volume one can give you added ponies, but on a stock GT you will see no major imporvement. if you up the injectors to 24lb you will have to chage it with one calibrated for the injectors and it is a good idea to have a chip burned for your setup. JMS is the best I have found at this. As far as removing the air silencer, it will give you a little bit better performance when it is cold, but once the car heats up or it is hot outside you will start drawing HOT engine compartment air that will actually lower your performance. remember the colder the air the better the run
