Basically, how does it work exactly? Is PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) just that little button on the remote entry that sets off the alarm when you press it? Or is it just that flashing "THEFT" light on the dash? Is there something more to PATS?Mostly curious really...last night, I think our neighborhood was victim to at least some break-in attempts. I know at least one car was...my brother's friend stayed the night last night, and parked his car on the street. It's about 100 feet from the house. At about 3 in the morning, I was woken by his car alarm going off, and then the sound of a rice-rocket taking off down the street like a bat outta hell. My brother heard it too, and dad (he even said there was a loud "THUMP!" just before the alarm went off, like someone trying to bust something). My brother's friend didn't hear it, but we woke him up to tell him to go check on it. Everything was okay for him, fortunately.
Whoever it was must not bother with cars in driveways because luckily, all the cars in the driveway on our street seemed okay. I know my '99 was. But this happened a few weeks ago too...6 cars were broken into (though they were actually unlocked in the first place), by 3 guys in a riced-out Civic. Go figure. They eventually caught them, but it happens again just a few weeks later??
I'm starting to get concerned that they'll be back eventually. And I just hope my car won't be a target.
