A friend of mine has a '96. The bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the intake, well the one on the drivers side is broken off flush with the intake. Is there any way to get that out without having to remove the alternator, etc.? He took it to the Ford dealership and they were going to charge him $600. I figured with all the great guys and gals here, someone may have a "cheater" way to get to it. Anyway, thanks for the help in advance! Jeremy

Sounds like it's drilling and Easy-out time.
It won't be an easy job, but $600 is insane.

another option i've seen used is to weld a small bead onto the broken off bolt, then use this extra metal to remove the bolt. i.e. vice grips or grinding two sides to slip on a wrench. good luck
