Hey everyone! Though my times were not that impressive compared to a lot of the rides everyone at M&M has, you have to start somewhere. Needless to say I am totally hooked and had a great time. I went to Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI last Tuesday for their fun night. I had never raced on a track, so I was kind of nervous. After the first pass, though, I found the cars that I could beat or hang with and had a great evening. My best time was a 15.345 at 90.09, 60' time of 2.306, 1/8th at 9.90 and a reaction time of .644. Just to refresh everyones memory, I have a bone stock 98Gt with auto. There were about 5 other 4.6 stangs there of different years running from my time all the way down to 12.9. The 12.9 guy had a 99' sohc with all the typical mods, slicks, and 5 speed. The most impressive was a 2000 GT 5 speed that had a K&N filter and some Hoosier street tires that ran a 14.1. Pretty fast I thought for not doing much. Needless to say, I can't wait to add some speed parts and see where that will take me. Drag racing on a track must rank up there with crack or heroin when it comes to how addictive it is. I can't wait to get back down there in a week or so!

That's great. I really want to take mine to the track before doing anything to get the before & after thing going you know? Anyways, is there anything special you need to do before you take a 'vert to the track?------------------ chetta 2001 GT Convertible http://www.torquecentral.com

chetta, First, let me be the first to welcome you to Mustangsandmore! I think you'll find this group to be the absolute greatest bunch to be associated with. Now then, as for running a vert at the track, I believe they make you run with the top up and all windows up. That makes it safer I think. In stock form, there really isn't anything that you need to do to it before you go for the first time. Verts are notorious for having more body flex than a hardtop. But that doesn't harm you until you start adding more power to it. You should be fine to run as is until you start playing with it more. Do you have a track close by? It's always good to go watch once or twice to see how they have it organized. You can talk to some of the veterans and learn a few tricks. That way you have more fun and less headaches. YOU WILL BE HOOKED! Drop on over to Sam's Place and introduce yourself to the rest of the crew. Sam's is like being in the garage turnoing wrenches with your closest friends. ------------------ Mike M&M Member #9 2001 Bullitt #172 Dark Highland Green "Is that Black Charger following me?"

Thanks for the warm welcome, I've been lurking for a while. The nearest track is 90 miles away or so since they closed the two closer ones. Just thought I'd do my homework before heading out. ------------------ chetta 2001 GT Convertible http://www.torquecentral.com
