Up at break of dawn this morning to go to the transport yard. There I got to meet our newest pony "Frank." His odometer read 3.5 miles!
The Ford dealer 60 miles north of here couldn't arrange to have our new pony transported from the train yard to the dealership for another week!
After begging with the dealership owner, Mr. Barber, he arranged for us to pick up the Bullitt and take to the dealership.
We didn't want to drive it without it having been properly prepped, so we rented a trailer and hauled the little beauty.
Upon close inspection of "Frank," two paint chips and a ding were discovered near the door handle of the driver door. It was very near a large pad of styrofoam. Appears to have happened BEFORE the styrofoam protectant was placed.
We have to take it to a body shop tomorrow and they will take two days to fix it.
While at the transport yard we saw a Black Bullitt and three more green ones sitting there awaiting delivery to their happy owners.
One thing that seems to be happening to a lot of the Bullitts is the shifter knob is being stolen during transport. We spoke to a lady at the dealership who had her shifter knob stolen and one of the cars at the transport yard was missing it.
Anyway we hauled the car to the dealer, paid the bill, waited three hours for the detailing, put it back on the trailer and hauled it back home.
It was quite tricky getting it on and off of the trailer because the ramps were short and steep and the low valance wanted to kiss the ground. We had to keep finding dips or curbs to load and unload.
We had a show committee meeting tonight and showed him off. Even people who were skeptical before actually seeing a Bullitt are now admirerers. "Frank" is a hit!
He now has 70 miles and is put to bed in a rented garage, because we presently don't have even a carport or driveway. One side of the yard is a mudhole and the other side has poopey birds in the big trees.
Frank is in the garage where pinkie, kaos, indy and our son's coupe "no name" usually live. I told Kaos to behave himself and be nice to the new brother!
We went to the DMV to pick up the personalized "Bullitt" plates they've been holding for us for two months. Guess what? Now they won't give them to us because we bought the car in a different county that doesn't use the same computer base so it has to be hand recorded and could take up to two months! I'm so sick of this bassackward government in this state!

I love the car, but at the moment I'm feeling a little bit of buyers remorse and just want to go tell Sugarplum my 97 she's a good girl!

Buyers remorse? Oh damn, I only wish I could say the same thing, regarding a new Bullitt purchase!

This was a great read, Joyce! Nice post! Congrats on yer new Mustang. I really wish I could afford one. And no, Steve, The Vic isn't available for a trade.

Cool...another one out there. I still have yet to see any at our dealers. Hm.

Congrats Joyce! And great name for the car, too.

Congrats Joyce!
Frank will definitely be a hit every place you go. People come up to me in parking lots, gas stations, you name it, and just want to have a closer look.

Little kid yesterday at the soccer field,"Is that your green car?" "Yep, that's my new Bullitt." "That is an AWESOME car!" "Thanks."

I know you'll enjoy it, just like I am.
I've got over 2000 miles on mine already...I can't stop driving it.

Joyce,
Congratts!!!!!! Frank's brother (1007) went to his first car show this weekend, and from the moment we pulled up, I had a group of people looking at it. When I pulled up one of the hosting club members started annoucing over the loud speaker that a new Bullitt had justed arrived. I had a copy of the window sticker and no one could believe the price and then when I informed them of the rebait and the X plan. Well there was this Corvette owner that was really impressed! That Ford could build a spceial car like that and be so afordable. He thought it would have stickered for about $35000.
007 also served as back drop for the city newspaper, to take photos of the towns people enjoying the festval, (that the car show was apart of). And he got another photo taken with 2001 high school seniors on their way to their Prom. In Fact one couple she was dressed in a beautiful dark green gown and her date was dressed with matching dark green bow tie and vest, So 007 matched.
As you can see our bullitt are getting alot of attention.
Oh, my wife over heard the corvette club members discussing, that they wished Chevy would do something like what Ford did, and keep the price down like Ford did.
