I've found a '01 Mustang that's a total waste. They guy offered me a good deal on his 2k mile engine. Does anyone know if the intake has changed since '96. I think I read somewhere that they're composite and have been known to crack. Would a roots type SC like the Saleen eliminate the stock intake. I'm not familiar with roots type. Also, that new Lightning setup looks nice. Would that bolt right onto the 4.6? Same block right?

Well, if you're talking GT intakes, I'm not sure. But I wouldn't doubt it, due to the fact that the HP numbers of '01 vs. '96 are significantly different. That power would have to come from somewhere, right?Part of the reasoning for that is I *know* the V6 intakes were redesigned starting in '99; that's partly why the '99-'01 V6s make 40 more HP than the '94-'98 V6s. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project

I just put a 2000 engine into my 96 mustang. You can swap it out with only modifying the 2000 engine to accept a second temperature sensor. I went ahead and put long tube headers on while the engine was out. -Or- You can swap the heads and intake off the 01 model and put on the 96 block. This gives you the new PI heads plus a 10.0+ compression ratio. The 96 heads/intake are different than the 99-01 heads. The 99+ heads are called PI heads for Performance Improved. The switch resulted in a 45 HP boost. You can get much more with a P&P and/or compression bump. PS. My times went from 15.4 @ 95 to 14.4 @ 102 MPH on my heavy convertible. ------------------ Randy Thornton Boss 302 & Saleen S281 [This message has been edited by pthornton (edited 04-17-2001).]
