Hi all:I'm wondering if anyone out there had the parking brake recall work done yet. I heard they have to remove the center console cover to do it? Since the interior in mine is absolutely pristine (I've only got about 1,700 miles on it since last May and its been in storage all winter), and nothing ever seems to go back on the way it came off - particularly when it comes to interior plastic pieces, I'm hesitant to have the work done, since I never park it without both leaving it in first gear and putting the parking brake on. A local buddy of mine took his into a different Ford dealer than I do business with and he said since doing the work the console has not fit right and now he gets some squeaks and noises from the console area that he never had before. Given that, I was thinking about not having the work done. My dealer says its my choice to do it or not and it can be done later if I change my mind. Anyone else have the work done yet and if yes, did anyone end up unhappy with the way things turned out or ended up with problems they didn't have before taking it in like my buddy did? Any feedback from all you M&Mer's out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Joe C.

If it helps your decision at all, when I worked at a dealership, it was the newbies that did the recalls. ------------------ '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L Disposable Commuter "Keep your driveway all Ford!"

Hey whatch what you say about dealers!!! BTW it is a federal law which carries a $10,000.00 fine for any fraud in performing a recall on any vehicle,so i don't think the dealer didn't do it you just happen to get someone who cared and did a nice job. My ebrake was fixed flawlessly. No problems at all from Lake Norman Ford in Huntersville, NC. Of course I did have some other problems with them but not on this recall.------------------ 99 Chrome Yellow GT 17" Chrome Cobra R's, Billet grill, K&N, Ram Air, Steeda TriAx, 35th Shifter Knob, and more http://ymr.stangnet.com (Home of the Yellow Mustang Registry)

Had the recall work done last Friday. Can't see much of anything that looks different after the work was done, but I did notice a plastic tab on the console trim ring (that goes around the shifter) must have broken off, but the piece still fits in place properly, so it couldn't have been a critical one. A little disappointed that it happened and I know my dealer would replace the trim ring no questions asked if I wanted them to, but I'm no worse off for doing it, and in the long run probably better off for having it taken care of.------------------ Joe C. 2000 V6 Convertible

I got the parking brake recall done on my car a while ago. All they do is cut off a stop tab on the parking brake lever under the center console. It lets the handle drop a little lower when its not engaged so when you pull it up you get a little more tension. I noticed a difference when I pulled the handle up, it seemed to get tighter without pulling the handle 3/4 of the way up. No problems since then. A few days before I got the work done my neighbor knocked on my door saying my car was moving. Sure enough it was inching its way down the driveway (it slopes downwards) and it would have hit my girlfriends 90LX. ------------------ Dave95GT http://dave95gt.stangnet.com http://austinareastangs.com [This message has been edited by Dave95GT (edited 04-25-2001).]
