My '94 GT convert has way too much chassis flex. Has anyone installed subframe connectors and can comment on brands, results, etc.? Thanks!

Welcome to Mustangsandmore. As you can see from the picture at the top of the forum, I also have a 94vert. How long have you had yours? Have you been under it? Does yours have an X shaped metal support that runs under the engine? With a hole in just the right spot to pull the oil drain plug? When I bought mine, there was one of these already on it and I have no idea if it is stock or not. It has a FORD part number on it. Mine does not have alot of flex, but I'm not pushing alot of horses or doing alot of twisty-turny racing either. I've heard good things about Kenny Brown and Maximum Motorsports sub-frames. You might want to have a look at those first. Again, welcome to the best site on the net. Pull up a comfy chair, kick back and enjoy the ride. Drop in on Sam's Place and say Hi. It's like hanging out in the garage with your closest friends. No Flames. No attitudes. Just good times!

Thanks, Mike. I got my GT in February, my oldest son took my Blazer and my youngest son just took my '69 Cougar, so I took care of myself for a change. It's fully optioned, lowered, 17/8's and 17/10's, z-rated Yokohama's. and an AOD(I know, sissy). Other than K&N, Mac headers, Flowmasters, and 3:73's, it's stock, 89K miles. It's silver w/black top (I'm a diehard Raider fan, too). That brace under the pan is stock, only in converts. Still have lots of body shake and rattle going over RR tracks, that kind of stuff. Have you heard of Griggs Racing? They make lots of Mustang performance suspension stuff, and have good tech response. They have a 2-piece connector they recommend for converts, upper and lower member, the upper actually goes thru the rear seat footwell area. Give me your e-mail address and I'll forward their pictures. Thanks again for the response. I'm in the Bay Area. Dale

Thanks for confirming the underbody brace thing. Won't matter after this month anyway, it's being sold to make way for the Bullitt.Griggs was another name that I always hear kicked around when talking about sub-frames. Global West too I think. The email for each member is at the top of their posts. The Bay area huh? You'll be hearing from Stewart and the other bay area M&M'ers shortly I believe. we have a pretty good following out there. Do be sure to catch the Upcoming shows and events forum for information on the M&M gathering planned for RENO. Mike

Hey Dale, welcome to M&M! Mike is correct, we have a few M&Mers out here in California. While I'm several hours south of you, we have a few other that are closer. Off the top of my head they're in Sonoma, San Fran, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Rohnert Park, and Antelope (just outside of Sac, near Roseville). I've been to Concord a few time. Up to the Concord Pavillion for some great music!About your question. I believe Griggs Racing is THE best when it comes to suspension geometry for our Mustangs. http://www.griggsracing.com/ Whichever brand you choose, make sure you go with tubular connectors, and make sure you weld them in. Just bolting them won't work, as the holes will elongate over time, and you'll lose the benefit of having them on. I'm surprised you feel flex in your Pony. Body-chassis flex is a problem in the Fox Body Mustangs ('79 - '93) like I own, but Ford beefed up the strength of the cars when the SN95 ('93 - present) was introduced. I've heard nothing but good about Maximum Motorsports products. Global West too. They make a trailing arm I want to get that will allow me to remove my quad shock. As for Kenny Brown, while I have heard really good things about the company, Some people have posted that their subframe connectors aren't quite as strong as they had hoped. If you have the money, I'd stick with Griggs. I'd love to give them a chunk of change and have them work on my car! Stewart PS - Gotta lotta respect for the Silver and Black. I truly thought it was their year...it shoulda been! But I'm a tried and true 49er fan. Even still! [This message has been edited by Stewart (edited 04-12-2001).]
