Mike -
I'm not being critical AT ALL. But explain to me Why a Bullitt?

I understand Bullitt has some performance upgrades from the standard GT, the history and emotional appeal of the Bullitt, and besides it looks cool. But is there an advantage to paying extra (more than standard GT) for it over a slightly higher priced Cobra?
Is it just a matter of personal choice/taste?
What's HP of 2001 Cobra?
Will Bullitt retain value over Cobra, which don't seem to hold their value very well.

Just wondering?

I think the Bullitt because of it's limited production will be more of a collector item than a Cobra if it's kept in showroom condition and it's miles are kept down. Not as much fun, tho. I have a 1997 Woodward Dream Cruise Edition GT that was limited to 58 total cars and I've had some tempting offers on it. The key is making it a show car.

Here's what I posted in Sam's Place about the Bullitt-vs-Cobra debate:
==========================================
Here's my take on it...it's gonna be a long one...
The Bullitt will have lower production numbers and a single year run... Hopefully retaining more value over the years.

Cobra: 320 HP/317 ft-lbs torque
Bullitt: 275HP/315 ft-lbs torque(preliminary ratings)

Hmmmm....pretty close on that preliminary torque figure eh? Bullitt also has 'optimized' pullies. I think we are looking at a production vehicle that will go closer to 290HP and go beyond the 315 torque number. Soooo...slightly less HP in the Bullitt, but potentially more torque.

Cobra: No hood scoop.
Bullitt: Big hood scoop(can be made funtional with kit from kar-kraft for $469. Already checked with them that it will fit Bullitt)

Cobra and Bullitt have the same brakes but Bullitt's calipers are Red with a machined Running Mustang.

Cobra: Cobra Wheels 17X8 245/45/ZR17
Bullitt: Retro styled Torque Thrust D patterned wheels 17X8 245/45/ZR17

Cobra and Bullitt: Same Throttle Body( Twin bore 57mm) Same Alternator. Same Mass Air.

Cobra: Rear Spoiler and Convertible option
Bullitt: NO Rear Spoiler or Vert option

Cobra and Bullitt have 8.8 inch rear with 3.27 gears.

Cobra: Modified MacPherson strut and IRS
Bullitt: lowered 3/4 inch with revalved Tokico Shocks and Struts.

Cobra: MACH 460 standard
Bullitt: MACH 460 Optional

Cobra: Many colors(NOT Dark Highland Green though!)
Bullitt: Dark Highland Green, Black, True Blue only

Cobra: 0-60 = 5.4 seconds
Bullitt: Art Hyde guesses 0-60 = 5.5 seconds

Cobra: 1/4 mile 13.8 @ 102mph
Bullitt: No figures stated at this time

Cobra: Tremec TR-3650 5-speed(same gear ratios as T-45)
Bullitt: T-45 5-speed

Bullitt has the special intake, a retro-style guage cluster, aluminum shift knob, special door sills, aluminum race-like pedals, Bullitt badging, and that fancy gas filler door.

All things considered, I think the Bullitt is a better buy. Hmmm....am I a little biased?
