If you own a 1996-97 Mustang GT, be aware that the intake manifold (plastic) can crack, causing you to lose coolant (in a hurry) and overheat. It happened to my '97 GT convertible while cruising down the interstate (leaving me stranded - thanks AAA),then the same thing happened with a co-worker's '96 GT a couple of weeks later while he was driving to work. Ford is aware of the problem and will replace the intake under an extended warranty. However, there is not a recall so the intake is replaced only when there is a problem - not prior. So, if you own a '96-97 GT and this hasn't happened, join AAA. Not sure if this applies to '98 GTs.
