Hi,

My brother-in-law is looking for a "play" car for him and his family. He is not a big car guy, just looking for something to cruise around in. He plays hockey with a guy that's offering the following:

http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1986-Mustang-GT-Co nvertible-W0QQAdIdZ7147077

This has alot in it, but the others are:

Top Will be changed for a good, slightly dirty white top
Tie Rods and Ball Joints will be changed
Transmission will be swapped out with the newer one in the parts car
Gas Gauge isn't working correctly, but I have a new unit to fix that, and will put in.
Taillights have been upgraded to 87 and newer
Rear spoiler was added, trunk rack gone
Speakers are/will be replaced (fronts are new Infinity 3.5", rears are RCA Compnent 6.5" that I haven't installed yet, still in the box in the trunk.)
I have a high end Alpine CD/MP3/WMA player in there that I'd like to keep, but won't lose the sale over it! I will put a CD Player in regardless.

Things to consider:
The car is 20 years old
Interior door panels are not mint!
Clutch is a Ford Motorsport Heavy Duty, its a heavy clutch!
Shocks seem ok, struts could probably be replaced for a smoother ride (if you want to pay for the struts and/or shocks, I'd be happy to put them in)
The rear 17" rims are bent, but not much vibration. (thats what happens when you buy used on ebay! lol)
There is a hairline crack in the front bumper, but they are extremely hard to find, and expensive, so I've lived with it!
It has an oil leak, oil pan gasket. Its easier to pull the engine to do the gasket than to try it in the car. I never changed it since I figured if the engine came out, a better one was going back in! lol (87 or 88 preferably) I just keep an eye on the oil (using Valvoline 20W50 performance oil) and add as necessary. Consider it leaves oil spot under it....

Replaced Since I bought the car in 1998:

Rad - 2000
Waterpump - 2001
Upper Intake Gaskets - 2001
Gas Tanks - 2002
Tail pipes(Stainless Steel) - 2001
Battery -2000, 2004 (still has warranty)
Front Brakes (Rotors/pads/bearings, all premium quality) - 2003
Paint - 2004 (candyapple red)
Seat Upholstry - 2005 (arctic white)

Just general things, the car has power windows, power door locks, power roof, power trunk release, power steering and brakes, and plenty of power under the hood!
Oh, and murphy's law kicked in when I put it away for the winter, drove it out to my parents, stone hit the windshield and now there is a crack.... Fortunately that parts care has a perfect windshield, so I will be changing that over.

I don't know if there is much else I can tell you Don, but I don't want you to have any surprises. The car is 20 years old, so you aren't going to get a perfect car for the price I'm asking, but its a hell of alot of fun! Its been a driver, and I've had tons of fun! Mind you in the last 4 years, I've probably put only 25,000 kms on it, the rest were the years before that! Quite a few highway kms when I was in college in Windsor, all my friends and family lived in London or here.

I'll keep it in storage till spring, except to do some of my list of work I'm going to do to it.

The question he has for me is "is this a good deal". I am a classic Mustang guy and wouldn't know what to look for on this car if I went to see it. Any help would be very appreciated. Price is $5,000 CAD or about $4,500 USD.

Regards,

Gregg
