The turn signals have stopped working on My 87 5.0. They started blinking really slow. Then stopped. Days later they worked again then did the same thing. What causes that? Its not the fuses.

The flashers work by sensing the heat as power goes through them, so first look to see if any of the bulbs have a bad connection {corrosion, usually} then i that's not it you probably just need a new flasher unit. {they are cheap} There are two under the dash, They look like silver colored C cell batteries} one for your turn signals and one for your emergency. If you don't have a manual you can just turn your emergency flashers on and if they stop when you unplug the flasher you know the turn signal flasher is the other one.

Another way to tell if it's the flasher that's causing your problem is that is only one side doesn't flash it's a bulb, if both sides don't flash it's the flasher.
