Hello, I currently have a 90 mustang hatchback with a blown motor. Im wondering what the differences are between a 1988 Ford F250 5.0L engine and a 1990 Mustang LX engine. I found an engine from a F250, but i dont know the specifc differences between the two engines. Any help or online resource refrences would be great. Thank you.

The cam will be different, more low end torque less top end power. The cylinder heads may also be different, I know the pass. cyl. heads had hi-swirl chambers as did the 86 Mustang 5.0. I had one of those so I know. Compare the part numbers on the Mustang head to the one on the truck.

All 87 & up 5.0 HO's used truck castings on both the block and heads. Cam is different, intake & injectors of course are different. As was said, the basic engine interchanges.
