Will a 83'-86 mustang hood fit on an 82' using the 82' front end? I have a opportunity to pickup a cheap 2" cowl hood for 83-86'. Will it fit?

Unfortunately, the '83-'86 hood only works with '83-'86 nose.

Look at the front of your hood and compare it to the front of the other hood. Notice how the 82 is straight across and the 83-86 dips down in the middle between the headlights? If you are handy with a saw,you can cut that dip out, leaving enough material to fold under at the edge.
