I am getting ready to refinish my front bumper cover, is it possible to remove just the cover and leave the headlamps, etc in place, so I can drive the vehicle while refinishing the cover? Thanks Fred

Although I have had the whole nose section off my 85, I have not removed just the rubber bumper cover. It looks like you would have to remove a bunch off large head rivets that hold the cover to the fiberglass structure that holds the headlight buckets in place. I suppose you could then put this structure back on the car, as the headlights would be attatched, also the turn singnals are mounted inside the bumper rebar. However, the bumper cover is very floppy without the fiberglass structure behind it,I imagine it would be very difficult to work on the cover without the support holding everything in position.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed.
