hey new to the site. Here is my problem I have a 88 gt automatic that I bought the person I got it from tolled me that the ign switch was busted so he installed a push button and that is how he would start it. well he had it parked for 1 yr and I got it and it would not start just crank (strong)but would not start so I sprayed some starting fulid into the TB and the car would strat and run good. know if you turn it off it won't start on it's own. I replaced the ign switch and the starter relay (on the firewall) but now it wont crank I think it's the neutral safety switch / replaced the eec because pin # 20 or 40 was pulled out (ground) . I need help to find out what is the problem ------------------ 93 LX 5.0 daily driver and 88 GT project

I had to replaced the ign switch it was bad and the car won't start. but if I bypass the starter relay (also new) the car cranks but won't start . Now here is the problem if I spray starter fulid and start it it will run, but if you turn it off it won't start just crank -- the if fuel the pump works but I am stuck need help. I put a new/used EEC since the old one was messed up

hi, when you first turn on the key do you hear the fuel pump in the tank run for about 5 seconds, if not you either have a bad fuel pump relay or a defective pcm. fred

Internal combustion engines are very simplisticAir + Fuel + Spark = Fire!!! Now you say that it will run when you use starting fluid (fuel), however when you take the starting fluid (fuel) out of the equation it will no longer run. Best place to start is at the source (Make sure there really is fuel in the tank), from there make sure you have fuel coming to the front from the fuel pump. Start from the source and work towards the front until you find the problem. Good Luck ------------------ Ed 1984 5.0L LX Conv My Homepage

Forgot one.....compression. If your timing chain or belt is broken or your valves aren't operating correctly, ain't nothing gonna happen either. Actually, air is sort of a given, so that one really doesn't apply in your equation, although it is needed for combustion, you don't actually need to check that. The two easiest are spark and fuel. If you got those, then things get a little tougher. Good luck. ------------------ Sub Stanger/Oxford White 2003 Mach 1...and a guy who LOVES his wife and kids! started to work on the car and turned the key and nothing , so I put my test light on the ign switch (white/pink) wire and turned the key and the switch is working correctly but I put the tes light on the (red/lt blue) wire going to the starter and there was no power . bypassed by putting a wire from the ign to the starter relay and the car cranked but did not start. on the automatic 5.0 does the white /pink wire go to the nuetral start switch and then to the starter rely? do you think that could be the problem? there is gas and the pump has 40 psi and new relay the pump turns on and pressurizes the line -- is there a better wiring diagram for the mustang rather than the hanes book sold at autozone ? if anybody has one can ya'll email it to me please .
