Hey I have an 89 LX 5.0 5 speed, hatchback. My Passenger side Strut is "wet" or leaking oil. I want to replace these with adjustible struts, I think My car is mostly stock I live in Raleigh and the Roads are horrible so a soft ride in the city and a stiff ride for the curves out in the country sounds really nice.

what brand struts should I get? I want some that are cheap and will work well with my car. If i get a how hard are these to change? can i do it my self? I know I will have to get it alined afterwards. Are there any special tools needed?

You do not need to replace the rears if they are good.
You will need some specialized tools to install the new struts.
Also, an alignment might be required.

Minimally you will need a coil spring compressor and an impact tool, along with a good jack.
Some parts stores will rent or loan you the compressor if you purchase the struts from them.

I got the shocks and struts installed, my dad took the car to get it lined up, it was pulling real bad but thats been taken care of, the guy said the rack it worn out? I have not driven it yet so that is what my dad said. What should I look for to know if the rack needs to be replaced? how hard are they to replace?
