I recently got this '91 LX vert. I was reading through the owner's manual and it says not to put the top down when the material is wet because the fabric can shrink.

Q1: What is 'wet'? Say there is morning dew on it. Is that considered 'wet'?

Q2: Is there some kind of waterproofing that can be applied to the fabric? Something like Scotchguard?

Q3: The pins at the header don't line up well. Does anyone have any helpfull hints for adjusting the alignment of the top?

hey ddenton i recently had a new top installed on my 90 (an electron) and it says they only reccomend haartz roof cleaner, wolfsteins raggtopp pro-series and 303's aerospace protectant. as far as the pins not lining up is that left to right or top not going down far enough, my old top was a real pita to close and the upholster guy said it was shrunk pretty bad (not to mention the holes in it from the hail) he said to never leave it down over-nite also, even if you just raise it and dont latch it he said really prolongs the top from shrinking. hope that helps Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I never heard that a top shouldn't be left down overnight. I'll be sure to put it up.

The top goes down far enough. The alignment problem is left to right. The people I bought the car from said the top is only a year or so old. I thinking that the top installer probably didn't do a good job lining it up. However, I don't think the car ever saw a garage until it got to my house.

I found this link today. I may try to play around with the adjustments.
