A co-worker is telling me about his stepsons Mustang, which is for sale, wants to know if I'm interested. It's a 1988 hatchback, supposed to be a Steeda edition????? My biggest question is did Steeda sell any cars like Saleen does, or is this kid just blowing smoke to try to get more $$ ?????? Kid says they only sold 200 of them. It does have some good parts on it, new z-spec T-5, Edelbrock throttle body, Hurst shifter (why not a Steeda?) Cobra intake , H-pipe w/converters.Step dad says he's asking $4500, told me to offer him $3000 and he'll probably take it. What do you think? I couldn't find anything on the internet about Steeda cars, only parts. Car is running/driving but is in dire need of a new clutch. ------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page [This message has been edited by ccode67 (edited 01-23-2004).]

Also, it looks like '88 is the first year, I found this on the Steeda web site:"1988 ?STEEDA opens for business by converting over 60 Sebring Mustangs with improved suspension and aerodynamic components." http://www.steeda.com/ They have the history of the cars under the 'Highlights & Achievements' link.

I just called Steeda, they said the only true identifier on the car will be a plate on the dash next to the cigarette lighter with a Steeda serial number, I asked if they could verify through the VIN and he said no. You would think the Steeda number and VIN would be connected in their records. ????? Oh well, I'll go take a look and see if it's worth fooling with, if nothing else it might make a good race car. Thanks for the help. ------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page

Latest update...Steeda plague (sp)with # is in place, and the kid says he has all the original paperwork from Steeda. I'm going to go take a look sometime this week. Now just need to scrape together some cash (I'm married with children, not an easy task to gather cash).

Sounds like it would have some collector status with only 60 being produced, wouldn't ya think?
