is in an '85 Capri 4-banger? A friend of mine's sister has one for sale for $600...body and frame is VERY good, needs painted. I've been thinking of maybe picking it up and tossing in a built 302. I was told it has a C4, but I'm not sure. Also do the front springs, suspension etc. need changed from the four cylinder to the eight? Thanks!...Christine

It's probably a C3, which is a very weak transmission, not suitable for use with a V8.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150

The suspensions are quite a bit different, so you'd incur expenses there also.

Thanks guys! My husband told me the same thing, but the fella who's sister is selling it kept saying that there was no difference between the 4 and 8 cylinder in those areas, so I though just maybe Mercury did their's a little different than Ford did with the Mustang. I knew someone here would know for sure! ...Chris

There's a lot more to it than just engine and suspension. There's brakes, accessories, etc. Mainly for the suspension it's just springs, but you should also consider the torque boxes. Here's a link to some more things to consider:http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/v8/v8.htm Really depends what you want to do with it when you're done, I guess.
