Which car would be the better car as a collectable? '79 Indy Pace Car 4cylinder, or an '84 SVO? Both in decent shape, running, original motors.

Too bad you don't have enough money to get both! I have always admired both, but I would have to lean toward the Pace Car as it was only produced for one year.

I did not realize that the true 79 pace car came with a 4-cyl, I always thought that they just came with the V-8. I am always learning something on this site JOHN

The SVO is a much better car all around. The turbo 4 cylinder was much improved, you got a 5 speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, Koni shocks, better control arms, 16" rims with high performance tires, etc. Dan Jones

I would agree with Dan on this. Not only are the SVO Mustangs technically superior, I think they are developing a cult following in the car community. Start checking out the for sale prices on the web and you will see what I mean.John

John, of the 11,000 made about 5,000 were 4cylinder turbos with 4 speed, the rest were 302s with either the 4 speed or automatic.
