Getting ready to EFI/AOD my vintage 68 Cv. I had planned on using a K&N Air Filter but was talked into venting it under the fender for cool air. Air is too hot was what I was told. Am sure there's fact to that but I DO NOT want to cut the aprons on my car. The piece that I have requires a large hole. Is the K*N under the hood going to work OK?? Also, working with a 92 harness which is getting stripped out. I got a 130 amp Ford Alt. because they thought I was going with elec fan, but am not. using clutch fan.Rad is a 24" 3 row converted to serpentine. Does this require a mod to the harness? EFI is mass air. Using an E303 and removing B303 that is now in motor. Engine has E7 heads with smog bumps out. Any feedback appreciated. It's only taken me a year to get my s*** together!

I lot of Fox guys and SN95 guys run with the K&N conical filter in the engine compartment. Yes, it is "breathing" warmer air, but it'll still work fine, depending on your application. If it's a daily/weekend driver with occasional strip action, then it should be ok. I'd keep the 130A alternator. Since you have it anyway, it's a great upgrade over the stock alternator that came in the classics. Now you won't have to worry if you ever switch to that electic fan you had originally planned on, or if you upgrade the sound system (talk to Marco about the system in his classic! Awesome!). Mustangs didn't start using the electric fan until the SN95 body style, so I would think the harness from the '92 Fox wouldn't need any modification to it. The '92's were also mass air, so that won't be an issue. I've heard good things about both the E and the B cam. But when I finally swap out my cam, I'll be using E cam too. Basically, it's the only one I know of that has a CARB cert for CA emissions. The E7 heads are ok (nice low end grunt with the stock Fox cam), but they are restrictive compared to the aftermarket choices available nowdays! Sound like you had some minor port work done to the heads. Something I'd like to do if I can't come up with the do-rey-me for some aluminum heads this summer. I've seen (on different UBB's) a lot guys with 5.0's that are running with ported E7's and an E cam, and they seem to be happy with it. Of course, the intake utilized with that combo varies from car to car. From GT40's to Cobra's to Edelbrocks and even TFS. They all work to varying degree's. Me? I like the Edelbrock intake. What kind of intake do you plan on using? Stewart [This message has been edited by Stewart (edited 02-27-2002).]

Thanks for the feedback esp the K&N. Car is for street daily clear weather car. I just dont believe in doing something to a car that cant be undone. For an intake, am using the stock 92. I had considered using an explorer as they are supposed to be good. Couple for sale on line. Probably just get it running and shook down for roadability. Using a fresh AOD with trans go shift kit. I'll keep posting as work progresses. I can see that they sure beat carbs.

The Explorer intakes are supposed to flow really well for a stock piece. I've read where a lotta guys have been happy with them, especially for a street 'stang!Stewart

It would not be very difficult to adapt a 93 and down air intake box and mount it down on the lower frame rail either. I run the K&N conical on my car with no problems. As far as the cam goes why not a custom ground one?
