The other day, when it was raining of course, my wipers went out on my 93 GT. The fuses look good, but I don't have an owners manual to check out what the silver relay looking things are in the fusebox. Any ideas on where to start to trouble shoot the wipers??

Thanks

It's your motor. This is a TSB from ford, they know it's a problem but unfortunatly it's not a saftey recall(though it should be). Well, I should say that it's PROBABLY your motor.....there is the chance that it's something else, but I kinda doubt it. If you don't have the plastic cover that *ahem* covers your wiper motor, then the motor is going to be the most likely culprit. Water seeps down through the back of the hood, and drips onto the motor and the harness eventually causing the motor to fail. It's normally not a wireing problem. You'll find that if you turn the wipers on when it's dry they'll work, or if you give them a shove or two they'll wipe once. To answer your other question, I believe the silver circut breakers in the fuse panel are for the flashers and something else. The round one is for the flashers....I don't know what the rectangular one is for at the moment. But try what I told you....if it works, head to ford and get the tsb kit and a new motor. You shouldn't have the problem again.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. They are problems identified by the factory, yet aren't quite a recall. Along with identifying a problem, they offer solutions to the problem too.

I bet Mike (fishtail) is referring to a kit that is listed as the fix for the problem identified in the TSB.

Check out http://www.alldata.com/ and click on the "Recall and Technical Service Bulletins" link.

You can reasearch you own vehicle. I'm not sure if it's as accurate as the dealerships computer, but I understand the website has a good rep.
