Is it not original for the car? On the C6s I've come across, there's a partial VIN stamped on a flat spot on top, just behind the bell housing. If it's not original, though, it won't tell you the year. Have you checked the servo cover for a date code? C6, C8, D2, like that?

I am not for shore if it is original or not. When I bought the car it had the engine and transmission out of it already,it still is.But on the flat spot you are talking about fastback68 it has this number 8 16 2468 they are seperated like that to.Steve the only tag I can find is on the side it has this number A Y above the 015836.Then the last numbers I can find is on the bell housing and it has a 42 and a big S on it.I don't mean to sound real dumb but I don't know what the servo cover is,I don't know nothing about transmissions. Thanks for the help guys,Dave.------------------ 1969 390 mach 1 and 1971 351 cleveland mach 1

I'll leave the tag decode to someone else, but does the number 8 16 2468 look anything like your car's VIN? If it does, then the tranny was built some time shortly before the car If it's completely different, you're back at square one 'cos the tranny isn't original.

68fastback I am very pleased what I have fount.Like a idiot I didn't think about looking at my vin number and it matches just that, besides the 8.I am guessing that the 8 stands for my transmission was made in 68. My marti report says that my car was made on 24th of febaury so it was a early 69 car.But thinks alot for helping me out,dave.------------------ 1969 390 mach 1 and 1971 351 cleveland mach 1
