Nothing serious, just trying to install a new graphics card on the wifes computer and I'm not having luck. It's a Dell, and I'm installing a PNY nvidia pci card. I can only enter windows in safe mode and keep the display.------------------ "I started with nothing, and I still have most of it left" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

What driver version?I had that problem with drivers too old to support the card, and it seems that XP tries to use the default drivers, even tho they are older than the Geforce 4 series (which I assume you have due to the nature of the problem) Go here http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp Download the newest drivers, install them in safe mode. Should do the trick.

Thanks, I actually downloaded the latest from PNY technologies, but I'll try the Nvidia site and the safe mode install and see what happens. Didn't mean to post this here, thought I was putting it in Sams place, but it was late, I had the puter open, and 3 different people talking to me at once.------------------ "I started with nothing, and I still have most of it left" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

Definitely use the nvidia driver. The whole package will be around a 12Mb download, but it's way easy to install and works great. I installed Windows 2000 on the wife's work computer late last night, and did this.http://www.nvidia.com Good Luck! ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220 [This message has been edited by n2oMike (edited 08-10-2004).]

the Dell, PNY, Asus, Abit, Aopen, etc, drivers are modified Nvidia reference drivers. They do not modify the chip and 90% of the time use the Nvidia reference design, so no modifications are needed. However, some people still feel the need to dink with something that isn't broken...

Thanks guys. I wound up letting my son put it in his computer. I'm due for an upgrade anyway so I think I'll buy a barebones system and give the wife my old puter and be done with these proprietory systems that don't have agp slots.------------------ "I started with nothing, and I still have most of it left" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang
