I would like all you girls to be completely honest....my buddy's daughter broke up with a great kid, because she said he was "Too Nice."....which made me think....
It seems to me that girls/women like the "Bad Boy". A guy stands them up, doesn't call, cheats, etc etc..but they keep coming back for more.
Now don't get mad at me....I'm not stereo-typing you ladies...but the guys who I knew that made out the best, treated their 'girls' like cr-p, and the 'nice' guys got their heart broken...
Someone told me that it is inbredded in women to think they can change a man, and that's the attraction...or the challenge.
I'm really curious about this. I raised my daughter to be independent of any man, and to have enough self esteem to tell some dude to "take a hike" if he mistreated her. (especially before I found out and KILLED him.)
Be honest....is "Too Nice" a turn off ???

Eddie,

Maybe you should tell your daughter that these are the new house rules - courtesy of Jeff Foxworthy.

Ten Rules For Dating My Daughter

Rule One
If you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.
Rule Two
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter's body, I will remove them.
Rule Three
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear theirs trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: you may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact, come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.
Rule Four
I'm sure that you've been told that in today's world, sex without utilizing a "barrier method" of some kind can kill you. Let me elaborate, when it comes to sex, I am the barrier, and I will kill you.
Rule Five
In order for us to get to know each other, we should talk about sports, politics, and other issues of the day. Please do not do this. The only information I require from you is an indication of when you expect to have my daughter safely back at my house, and the only word I need from you on this subject is "early."
Rule Six
I have no doubt you are a popular fellow, with many opportunities to date other girls. This is fine with me as long as it is okay with my daughter. Otherwise, once you have gone out with my little girl, you will continue to date no one but her until she is finished with you. If you make her cry, I will make you cry.
Rule Seven
As you stand in my front hallway, waiting for my daughter to appear, and more than an hour goes by, do not sigh, and fidget. If you want to be on time for the movie, you should not be dating. My daughter is putting on her makeup, a process that can take longer than painting the Golden Gate Bridge. Instead of just standing there, why don't you do something useful, like changing the oil in my car?
Rule Eight
The following places are not appropriate for a date with my daughter: Places where there are beds, sofas, or anything softer than a wooden stool. Places where there are no parents, policemen, or pastors within eyesight. Places where there is darkness. Places where there is dancing, holding hands, or happiness. Places where the ambient temperature is warm enough to induce my daughter to wear shorts, tank tops, midriff T-shirts, or anything other than overalls, a sweater, and a goose down parka zipped up to her throat. Movies with a strong romantic or sexual theme are to be avoided; movies, which feature chain saws, are okay. Hockey games are okay. Old folk?s homes are better.
Rule Nine
Do not lie to me. I may appear to be a potbellied, balding, middle-aged, dimwitted has-been. But on issues relating to my daughter, I am the all-knowing, merciless commander of your universe. If I ask you where you are going and with whom, you have one chance to tell me the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have a shotgun, a shovel, and five acres behind the house. Do not trifle with me.
Rule Ten
Be afraid. Be very afraid. It takes very little for me to mistake the sound of your car in the driveway for a chopper coming in over a rice paddy outside of Hanoi. When my Agent Orange starts acting up, the voices in my head frequently tell me to clean the guns as I wait for you to bring my daughter home. As soon as you pull into the driveway you should exit your car with both hands in plain sight. Speak the perimeter password, announce in a clear voice that you have brought my daughter home safely and early, then return to your car-there is no need for you to come inside. The camouflaged face at the window is mine.

Hey Skinny......love it . I told my son in law before he married my daughter...
"I'll welcome you into this family....but if you ever %$#@ over her, I'll shoot you in both knee caps, and you'll walk around like Howdy Doody the rest of your life."
His eyes got as big as saucers....

That's absolutely true for young women. My dad raised me to be a gentleman and I was always one of the nice guys. I can't tell you how many times I was passed over because women were more attracted to the jerks. I even did an experiment to prove it (20 years ago). I started dating a woman who was kind of luke warm to me. I made a concious decision to be a jerk: not call when I said I would, show up an hour late, etc. When I started doing that she started chasing me. Go figure!

That all changes when women get into their thirties. At that point they start asking, "Where are all the nice guys?" My answer is that we've been there all along, they just didn't want us.

I raised two daughters and I think that holds true for younger woman. One of my daughters dated what everyone thought was the best catch in town, really a nice guy and he just feel held over heals for her and wanted to marry her, but guess what, she thought he was too nice and turned him down. This guy turned out very succeful, married and has a great family and my daughter married the jerk and her life is a mess.

As a single "nice guy" I have to say that this certainly seems to be true. I've had girls dump me for guys that treat them like a junkyard dog on more than one occasion. That's ok though... no girlfriend = more money for the mustang.

I have NO idea why a woman would want a guy to treat her like a jerk.

Nice is NOT a turn off......

What sucks is to marry the 'nice' guy, just to find out he really is a jerk with a ton of issues.....

Then the kids come along, the mortgage and the bills and the next thing you know 20 years have passed....

How could that be???

Harder to get out of the situation, but where there is a will there is a way!

Very Interesting....funny how the guys seem to agree with me and the grrllls disagree.
Like I said...I didn't want to stereo type. I know that there are a lot of women who want a nice guy....I'm just relating my experiences.
I know there are a lot of jerks (male) out there. I consider myself a real nice guy and it seems the women I meet have a hard time dealing with that and it seems as if they are just waiting for me to start jerking them around...but that's just not me.
I'm lucky enough to have found a wonderful girl, who is coming out of a bad marriage...after 8 months together, I think she is starting to trust me..and every day I tell her..."You were programmed to accept certain things all your life. You have to 'de-program' yourself and accept the fact that you have a good guy now"
Hope I hear more responses 'cause this thing really has me curious....

It's the "want what you can't have" syndrome. My Sister refuses to have anything to do with a Man that has a job and any security. But let her meet a POS, and man you can almost bank on it, she will hold on to him like glue. It's not just once or twice, it's almost every guy she has been with.

It seems to defy all explanation. For the 20-somethings and many of the 30-somethings, the nicer the guy is the less women want to do with them.

The irony is that, by the time they get to be 40-somethings they realize they want that nice guy. (After their divorce) The problem is they we're darn hard to find at that point.

Hey Ked Darling...when I said the girls disagree I meant that all you girls are saying a nice guy is great and you all don't seek out the losers...
But all us guys seem to think that nice guys finish last and the Bad Boys always make out.

HEY!?!?!?! How did I get drug into this?

Here's my take on it since my spidey sense pointed me in this direction;

girls dont want nice guys, they want the bad boys. As they get older and wiser, they realise being with bad boys they have a chance of ending up on 'Cops' wearing a tube top hanging out the window of a mobil home shouting "take his ass to jail!" When I was younger in my pre-marred days, the more rude and obnoxious we (my friends and I) were, the more appealing we were to the girls our age. But eventually most people grow out of that, and the ones that dont, never amount to anything, or just become lawyers .

Lol, I was agreeing with you until the last part Rob (although I must say it made my dad better just to read that lol) . I was always the nice guy until I got walked over one too many times and snapped. At that point I was in the best shape of my life and decided that I was going to embrace the stereotype and be an "ass" and basically just have fun. I never did lie to any of the women, I was always up front and honest as to my intentions. Amazingly enough a lot of these women started persuing me hardcore. I never did get that, just laughed it off. I dont think that nice guys finish last, they are just tripped and beat along the race. In the end they win (I never would have said this before) .

Oddly enough when I met Andrea (the day after a night of club hopping) she brought me back to my natural nice guy self. It was strange, I turned around 180 the day I met her. I dont think that you want to be with a girl that you have to pretend for and any girl who likes being treated badly is not one to waste your time on.

Ok...I am one of the grrls who like the bad boys, it was never that I wanted to change him, I just like the challenge of keeping a bad boy interested....heheheh...I think it is more that if a grrl has to work for the attention it somehow makes it more exciting. I have dated a few really nice guys, but I don't wanna be able to walk all over someone. I want someone that is gonna stand up to me and tell me to stop being a bitch when I am. Nice guys normally won't do that. So I think what it is, is that we want freaking everything...LOL....I now am with a really nice guy, that doesn't let me get away with anything and calls me on stuff when I am needing it!!! It's just a matter of finding the right bad boy!!!
