and I'm not to sure how it happened, but I think I really scairt a boy last night!

I had gone to this little dive with a girlfriend last night. She knows a lot of the folks there and we were standing at the bar waiting to get our first "refreshing" beverage (beer) when this young man stepped up and spoke. I assumed this was someone my friend knew and I immediately said, "well, you gotta be a decent person since your wearing that hat" (He had on a "First On Race Day" Ford hat). He immediately went into a conversation about his beloved 1976 F150 pick 'em up truck, which he had just dropped a new hot rod engine in and it was parked right outside, did I want to see...Well, being the grrl that I am, your darn straight I wanted to see and hear that big block rev up. It was a sweet truck and I told him so. He went on to express his emotional attachment to his "baby" and I made clear to him my understanding of such attachments....my girlfriend, not really understanding the conversation interjected at that point and made a comment about my love of my cars. He then started asking me about my cars and I told him about them. We had moved back inside by this time...Next thing I knew, he was buying me beer, then there was a kamakaze then more beer. I'm not sure what he said in order for me to inform this nice young man that I was married, I don't think it was anything out of line, but after hanging out with us for a couple of hours he suddenly disappeared. My girlfriend asked "what happened to him" and I said, "well, I told him I was married and he immediately left".....

Geez!! I was just talking to him, ya know?

Do you suppose he had honorable intentions or dishonorable intentions?

Friendly gearhead grrl in a bar with a cool car. I figure he thought he hit the jackpot. At least I would have.

Sounds to me like he wanted to check under the hood , but , found out you already have a mechanic doing that bit of work for you. Probably figured he would cut his loss`s , and , find a GRRL who needs a machanic

Not exactly, you were flirting with him and letting him buy you drinks. He probably thought he was getting on well with you and once he found out he was wasting his time, he moved on.

Damn rights Steve, the bars are full of girls like that, actually the SINGLES clubs are full of girls like that

I guess it is like going to look at cars for sale, with no intention of buying one. The sellers don't usually appreciate it

I just think it's to bad that men think just because a grrl is friendly and talkative that they can buy her a drink and she's gonna let 'em change her oil...... It was fine with me that he moved on.....

Grrl's don't go out looking for the same thing men do, apparently ~ But, if'n I wanted to ride his hot rod, guess I coulda ~ Just assumed he had more substance than that and was surprised by the apparent proof he didn't....

KED.....SORRY TO SAY, MY VOTE...HIS INTENTIONS WERE DISHONORABLE...SINCE HE WAS A MAN, AND YOU ARE A GRRRRLL....
JUST GLAD YOU DIDN'T GO "FOR A RIDE"...
Then again, maybe he deserves some credit for backing off, once he found out you were married....

Hell, I think I'd have stuck around just for the conversation (and the possibility that you might have single friends who share your GRRLishness)

Or wear blinders!!!! teee heeeeee!!! Dwayne, you are toooo funny!!!!

I think your right, EddieD ~ I certainly would never "hide" the fact that I'm married at all...(KK calls it my "oh did I scratch you on your face" diamond ring) and at least he did care that I was married. A lot of guys don't, but geez, I was surprise with how quick he took off outta there......

Umm... well... I wasn't trying to be...

Think about it. You meet an attractive woman, you share some interests (cars); but she isn't available. Doesn't it stand to reason that she may have some attractive, available friends with similar interests? (GAWD I hate to use these terms) Think longer term! Network!

(and if nothing else, you're liable to wind up with a friend that is much more valuble than the tail whose name you won't remember next week... Of course, the tail will probably be there next week, so you'll have another shot at forgetting her name the week after that... OK, this is me trying to be funny)

Dwayne,
Unfortunately most of my girlfriends ain't GRRLs......They expect me to get excited when they buy a Toyota.....and can't understand when I don't. I do have one grrlfriend who is considering a '91 GT ~ which would be a great improvment over her Pontiac (I keep telling her)!!!
