....ummmmmm, I mean wine for a new recipe that I wanted to try out for our Thanksgiving Meal. It only called for 1/3 cup of dry white wine. So, off to the grocery store I go.....well, it's been a while since I've bought wine (yummmm, beer!!) and I did not know that you could now buy the single serving bottles in four packs these days. Ummmmmmm, I wondered, I could buy one of those and that would be all that I need. OH, wait, damn! Have to buy the whole four pack. Poop on that!! For the same price, I can get a whole bottle... oh, wait...... if I just go ahead and double the price for the bottle, I can just get a whole box of five liters of white wine. Yeah!!! That's the value!!! There ya go, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh!!!

So, o.k., I needed a third a cup of dry white wine for my recipe. I drank about three glasses of white wine Sunday night while fixin' this cranberry relish and a coconut cake...... (the cake was devoured at work on Monday). Now, I'm on my second glass of white wine and am making another coconut cake and my potato salad for Thursday. Neither one of these recipes require ANY white wine, so how many glasses should I drink??

damn!! I ain't suppose to have this much fun in the kitchen ~ ~ Oh my!!! What is happening here???

Oh, wait~~~~~ should this have been posted in the technical forum?????

Hey Ked -

I just bought one of those 4 packs. I needed red wine, and I'm not a big fan of red wine and Alex doesn't drink anymore. So instead of wasting a whole bottle for a stinkin' Cup of red wine for beef stew, I bought the 4 pack. But the guy at Jewel said I can take and mix them if I wanted to. So I got 1/2 Red and 1/2 White Zinfindel. YUMMY.

I Say 2 glasses one for each thing you make

Lol! Ked is a wine-o . I like wine with fancy meals or at intimate gatherings (no, not that type, like close friends errr small groups err forget it, I am not gonna try and figure my way out of this one ). I was over at a friends the other day for a nice pasta and meatballs dinner and had a very good white wine (yeah I know, should have been a red wine but was having the white even before dinner ) but this wine doesnt come in four packs . Hmm, I think it is about time for winery tour in the Napa valley again (I'm always too busy to go so I just taste the wine my friends get when they come back).

I think a good rule of thumb is one glass of wine per every ingredient .

A friend of mine gave me a Good Bottle of Australian Wine... Made by Greg Norman Vinyards... It was a blend "Cabernet Melot"

We were staying in Idaho with a couple we golf with, so I took it up to have with dinner... It was excellent... Once you acquire a taste for red wines, it is really interesting to taste the differences...

They are great on special occasions, like the sun going down...

I must agree Don. Tasting how "oaky" some of the reds are, etc. Sounds like I drink wine all the time but it really is very rarely, honestly .

Wine used to be my drink of choice. Wouldn't touch beer for a lonnnngg time!!! Then, the kids came along and the budget changed!!! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I like a good red, pink, white..... Once, my girlfriend, Gail (she was in Reno with us) and I went looking for a furniture store in Monterey. We couldn't find that furniture store for nothing, but we did find a tasting room for a vineyard... We left with two cases of Merlot instead of end tables! I had some training when I was waiting tables quite a few years ago and earned a button that reads "I have a trained tongue". Shhhhhhhhhh!!! Don't tell Stewwie!! That'll drive him crazy!!

Got the crud today. Left my morning class and went directly to the doctor. Nope, not a hangover, not an infection (as I thought it was) but a head cold!! Damn!! wanted to go drink that .25cent draft tomorrow night!! Probably have to drink box wine instead!
