I know there's a MEL expert that hangs out around here...

I'm putting together a '59 Mercury Park Lane with the 430 engine. Does anyone make a neoprene rear main seal?

It just seems like I always get a seepage with the old rope seals.

Or if there's something that will work with a minor trimming......or whatever....I used a 460 seal on a '31 Buick Straight 8 a few years ago and it worked fine!

Not sure but I can find out from our contacts at Victor on Monday.
Crabby Gary might know of one as he hangs out on the MEL forums a lot.

Alex,

There is also supposedly one (neoprene) available from FEL-PRO. If your parts man is good and is willing to chase these old parts, can you give me a PN for future reference?

Thank You, Sirs.

I just called the local NAPA and he said no listing, but I'm pretty sure they don't carry Fel-Pro.

I'll dig more and if I find anything I will advise.

Alex, if you could check that Victor I would appreciate it!

My guy will check all available options including competitors so if there is one I will get the part number and post it.

We only offer a rope style seal for the 430, our part number is JV701.

Hope this helps!
