Why would any one want a 55-57 Chevy when they could drive one of these awesome Fords. I really do think these Fords look better then the Chevys.

Yeah, the '57 Fords difinetly have nicer sleeker look than the Chebby's do. Ford made the best looking car in '57...then again, I am a little biased (check sig) ------------------ Gary M '46 Ford pickup '46 Ford pickup-Mutt '57 Fairlane 500 '70 Mustang SportsRoof 63B

The 55-56 are real sweet too. I don;t know why I don't see more of them around. From what I've read they made plenty of them. But even at HAN you maybe see a hand full. Where as you can't go to a stop light without seeing a 55-57 chevy.

Bob any picutres ? I have had many people tell the 50's cars are alot harder and more expensive to keep up and mod then a 65 Mustang. I'd like to have one some day. But I think I better stick to my 65 for now. They sure do look cool. And it's more in line with the Classic HOTROD look I like.Any time we see a cool car my wife will ask me would I have that one in my fleet too. Can't have to much money or to many cars. Now wifes one's more then enough. ------------------

They are not really any harder to up keep than Mustangs. I've never found my '57 to be any harder to drive or anything. Condition is another thing...Mustangs became special cars almost right away...but 50's cars (save for Chevy 2 doors, Vettes, and T-Birds) were just everyday cars. I haven't seen as many rust issues as in Mustangs, but those Y-blocks are harder to find parts for, and the trannys suck. But the '57 is the first year of the 9". And it doesn't take many mods to make a mid 50's Ford stand out in a crowd. My Fairlane is gonna be on Air-Ride 'bags and roll on 16" American Racing Torque II...and solid black ------------------ Gary M '46 Ford pickup '46 Ford pickup-Mutt '57 Fairlane 500 '70 Mustang SportsRoof 63B

If or when I get one. It'll have to be modded for sure. I'm not a restore kinda of guy. I like the idea of a 460, 5spd and 4.11's. ------------------

That sounds like it'd be a sweet combo Scoop...put it in a stripped down model, like the Custom Tudor, like these http://1957ford.com/asp/carlist.asp?modelid=13 ...very ------------------ Gary M '46 Ford pickup '46 Ford pickup-Mutt '57 Fairlane 500 '70 Mustang SportsRoof 63B

More 57 Fords were sold than 57 Chevs but they were just not as popular with the car crowd. For one thing, the Why blocks were not as fast on average. This would be open to debate, but believe the 57 Ford had more rust probs along with 57 Mopes, than the Chev. And they ALL became rust buckets in the salt belt. Because of the overall popularity of the 57 Chev, more were fixed and a huge aftermarket developed. I still like the 55 and 57 T-birds. Wish I'd had one.
