Anybody know what year Ford switched to strictly electric windshield wipers? I know that some 59`s had them as an option, but I`m looking to see if something a bit easier to find may retrofit. ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker 302 5speed. soon to be under the index! 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd

FORD had them as an option throughout the late fifties/sixties. Supposedly the reason it wasn't more popular is that the GM Delco division could not supply the number FORD needed. I have seen the system improved by merely adding a vacuum reserve tank. The motor off an EDSEL will work. This gentleman supposedly converts the vacuum system (switch too) over to electric as to where it is not noticeable. Thanks, years ago, I installed a 56 Chev electric wiper motor in my 57 Ford Sedn Delivery. It bolted right up, cable & all, all I had to do was run 1 wire to power. I believe both the Ford & Chevy vacumn wiper motors, as well as the Chevy electrics, were made by Trico.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker 302 5speed. soon to be under the index! 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd
